SPOILERSNicholas Sparks books are perfect holiday books I concede that it was a pleasant surprise that there were some suspense elements and not the same old love story typical of the Sparks collection, however, it is one of the worst anti climaxes I have ever come across From the middle of the book there is a constant build up of who the villain is and why he s after the protagonists etc only to very obviously and abruptly end without answers A perfecty good villian was ruined and the worst part is the the love story was not even any good exactly because the other theme took over. Wer die bisherigen B cher von Nicholas Sparks m chte, wird dieses Buch lieben Ich war mir zun chst nicht sicher, ob ich mir The Guardian wirklich kaufen soll, da ich schon fter geh rt hatte, dass es etwas anders sei, als die blichen Nicholas Sparks B cher Das Buch ist keine typische Lovestory, sondern besitzt krimi hnliche Z ge.Jetzt nach dem Kauf kann ich nur sagen Es ist sehr faszinierend, wie in diesem Buch die Spannung mit der Romantik wechselt Einmal angefangen konnte ich das Buch kaum weglegen Ich kann es wirklich nur jedem empfehlen After her husbands death, a young widow with a faithful Great Dane must decide between two men but as new love blossoms, jealousy turns deadly in this suspenseful New York Times bestsellerJulie Barensons young husband left her two unexpected gifts before he died a Great Dane puppy named Singer and the promise that he would always be watching over her Now four years have passed Still living in the small town of Swansboro, North Carolina, twenty nine year old Julie is emotionally ready to make a commitment to someone again But who Should it be Richard Franklin, the handsome, sophisticated engineer who treats her like a queen Or Mike Harris, the down to earth nice guy who was her husbands best friend Choosing one of them should bring her happiness than shes had in years Instead, Julie is soon fighting for her life in a nightmare spawned by a chilling deception and jealousy so poisonous that it has become a murderous desire Sehr spannend und sehr anr hrend habe geweint, gelacht, war sprachlos und entsetzt und entz ckt Ein wirklich klasse Roman Vorsicht, man kann ihn nicht gut aus der Hand legen, bis man zu Ende gelesen hat Eher was f r Frau als f r Mann. I m glad that I read Nicholas Sparks afterword once I d finished reading The Guardian In it he explained that he wanted to write a book that was primarily a romance, but also had a strong thriller element I think that he mainly achieved his goal However, in my opinion, the first half of the book felt like a romance and the second half like a thriller.I ve read most of Mr Sparks books, and I would say that although he s written villains before, the villain in The Guardian is the most sinister and disturbed of them all I liked Julie and Mike, and the romance between them was sweet There was also a good cast of supporting characters, including Singer, the dog.The Guardian is a well written book, but I wouldn t number it among my favourite Nicholas Sparks novels. I like some of Nicholas books, the ones that have a bit of grit to them and bought The Guardian on the strength of excellent reviews I enjoyed the first half, a bit slow, excellent characters, but by the time Julie and Mike got together and started their relationship I just couldn t cope with all the syrupiness is there such a word that dripped off the pages Obviously things were going to get interesting with Richard, adding a little tension, but unfortunately I ended up doing the unthinkable, I skipped a whole section to get nearer to the end This was like a short story that was stretched out in the middle to give us lots of Julie and Mike time, but there was only so much of it all you could take before you stopped believing in the whole scenario.More real life please Nicholas, we will still love the characters even if they are not perfect.
